Things I’d Do Differently if I Restarted My Web Developer Journey

Hey Reader,

today, I want to share with you 4 things I would do differently if I had to start my web development journey from scratch.

First and most importantly, get a direction – pick up a roadmap.

As a self-taught developer, I lacked guidance and had no idea what to do, which was the hardest part.

Having a roadmap or mentor can give you direction and goals to reach, which is exactly what you need at the start.

Understanding is everything.

Learning alone is not enough. Understanding is what makes the best programmers.

Try to understand what you're learning – get hands-on experience or even explain things to someone else.

Don't be afraid to seek help.

If you can’t figure something out, there are plenty of places to ask for help. Communities, forums, and more, like Discord and Stack Overflow, will guide you.

Prepare for the long run.

This is not a sprint; it's a marathon. In fact, it's a lifelong journey.

Learning never ends, and that's a good thing. You’ll never get bored.

But don’t expect to become a programmer from zero in just a few months.

Changing that mindset will help prevent burnout.

These are the tips and lessons I wish I knew earlier on my journey. I hope they help you too!
